JavaScript-Rendered Content and SEO: What Gets Seen and What Doesn't

Published 2026-10-05 · Seotific Team

If your page's headings, text or links only appear after JavaScript runs, search engines have to render the page to see them. Google can do that — but it isn't instant, and it isn't universal.

How Google handles it

Google crawls the raw HTML first, then queues the page for rendering with a headless browser. Rendering can lag crawling, and problems (blocked scripts, errors, timeouts, content that needs user interaction) can leave content unseen.

Other crawlers are less capable

Many other search engines, social-preview bots and AI crawlers fetch raw HTML and do not execute JavaScript. Content that only exists after rendering may be invisible to them.

How to check

  1. View source (not Inspect) and search for your H1 and main copy. If they're absent, they're JS-injected.
  2. Use Search Console's URL Inspection → "View crawled page" to see what Google rendered.
  3. Disable JavaScript in your browser and reload.
